PASSIONATE ATTORNEYS
REPRESENTING THE SERIOUSLY INJURED
Raymond Eisdorfer recently told the following story to a retired
Superior Court Judge friend of his: A 19-year-old female client, who
had been involved in a serious car accident several months earlier,
came to see me regarding her physical complaints and update me
on continuing medical treatment. She told me that cervical fusion
surgery was scheduled for the following week and that she would
be undergoing same. I asked about her current complaints. I read
a narrative report from the treating orthopedist indicating a single,
small cervical herniated disc. The defendant’s insurance policy was
one million dollars. There was no issue as to liability. Questioning
my client about her continued physical complaints, it became
evident that they were minor compared to many other clients with
similar injuries that I’d seen over 20 plus years. I inquired whether
she had a second surgical opinion. She answered, “no.” I asked for
permission to speak with her openly, like a family member. She
granted this request. I said to her, “I am not a doctor, so what I
have to say isn’t medical advice, but are you crazy? You never, ever
should agree to have this type of surgery, outside of a hospital ER
crisis, without first getting at least a second, if not a third, opinion by
different neurosurgeons who don’t communicate with one another.
If you have the surgery, I’ll most probably get you the defendant’s
one million dollar insurance policy. However, I’d rather see you
heal naturally, over time, as I did with the same exact injury from
lifting weights when I was your age. You are only 19!” She agreed
to postpone the surgery, had a second neurosurgical opinion and
decided never to do the surgery. I knew when I spoke with her that
if she had the surgery, I’d get her one million dollars and earn a
contingency legal fee of $316,000. Instead, the case settled for
about $450,000 and the legal fee was about $150,000. My firm
always puts its clients’ best interests first above its own selfish
economics. Our clients can attest to the fact that we care about
them as if they were part of our own family, and while we are their
lawyers and representing them, that’s exactly what each client is
and how each is treated.
Our attorneys are honored to be named to Super Lawyers

who have achieved similar recognition. We are grateful
and appreciative that some of these other Super Lawyers
honorees have partnered with us in co-counseling plaintiff
personal injury cases.
