Francis William short, DmD • OrthOdOntics
Whether caring for adults, adolescents or children, Dr. Fran Short recognizes that each patient has different needs.
That’s why he offers the latest technological advancements for customized treatment.
“I have geared my practice towards treating patients to the highest standards, as well as making each visit as
pleasant as possible,” he says. “Our entire office team is comprised of compassionate individuals who care deeply
about both the needs of our patients and their experience with us.”
Working as a structural engineer before becoming an orthodontist has provided Dr. Short with a unique perspec-
tive of the physics and science behind orthodontic care. He pursued both dental school and residency training at
Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine and today serves as a clinical instructor in the University
of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine’s Department of Orthodontics, where he was honored as “Teacher of the
Year” in 2012.
Dr. Short, who practices with Dr. Leon Nehmad, maintains an office designed with a “beachy” feel, reflecting his
love for the Jersey Shore. He is a published author, past president of the Atlantic-Cape May County Dental Society, and
a member of the New Jersey Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists. He does volunteer
work with the Brendan Borek High Tides Memorial Fund, Habitat for Humanity, and Smiles Change Lives, an orthodontic nonprofit organization dedicated to helping kids from low-income families receive braces.
