n SOLO PRACTITIONER | IN PRACTICE 11 YEARS
Favorite pursuits after office hours:
Family comes first, especially where my two sons are concerned.
We spend much of our family time together at soccer, basketball and Tae Kwon Do events. At other times, you can find me
kickboxing or enjoying other physical activities.
Q. How can patients determine
if they or their children are at risk for
gum disease?
A. I cannot stress enough the impor-
tance of early detection of periodontal
disease. Periodontal destruction is
irreversible, so arresting the disease
process early is crucial to maintaining
tooth support. Visiting your general
dentist for a thorough examination
and X-rays is the first step. How-
ever, if you have a family history
of periodontal disease, are a
diabetic, are immune compro-
mised, use tobacco, feel your
teeth are loose, have de-
veloped gaps or spaces, or
experience gum sensitivity,
recession, pain or bleed-
ing, seeing a periodontist
for a routine screening
would be your best bet.
