DREAMING OF
SUMMER DAYS
an ice cream cone on the broadwalk.
Wading into the waves. The shade
of an umbrella on the sand. Pizza on
the boardwalk. Advertising banners
in the sky. A hole in one at mini golf.
The thrilled shrieks from a roller-coaster. Curling up with a book on a
breezy porch.
Such is the stuff that summer
dreams are made on. Except in New
Jersey, we don’t have to dream. We can
simply pack up the car, steer toward
the Garden State Parkway and head
down the Shore. For untold thousands
of New Jerseyans, it’s a summer ritual
that can’t be beat.
Here’s another summer ritual:
the Shore Guide from New Jersey
Monthly. Each year, we offer our ideas
for making the most of Jersey’s most
precious natural asset—140 miles of
inviting sand and surf. As you’ve come
to expect, this year’s Shore Guide has
plenty to interest beachgoers.
Let’s start with our cover story,
“The Romantic Shore.” We’ve chosen
seven destinations for you to enjoy
with that special someone. Now consider “Sunset Dining,” our survey of
15 perfect locations to watch the day
fade into the west. Speaking of perfect locations, we make an extended
visit to Long Beach Island, checking in at popular LBI spots from Old
Barney to Holgate. We also preview
the summer’s Shore theater offerings and fill you in on new attractions and restaurants in many of the
top Shore towns.
our coverage of the Shore doesn’t
stop with the June issue. For updates
on each week’s top events, restaurant
news and more, sign up for our new
ShoreCast newsletter. It’s free and delivered right to your in-box. Subscribe
at njmonthly.com. And before heading
to the Shore, be sure to download our
Jersey Shore Beach Guide app. The
location-aware app will help you find
the best in dining and nightlife—
wherever you are down the Shore.
