The use of minimally invasive techniques has led to dramatic changes in both knee and shoulder surgery according to Dr. Rajan, who was
involved in the care of the Philadelphia Eagles during his sports medicine fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania. “We can now
perform surgeries in an ambulatory setting using much smaller incisions,” he says. “Patients often go home the same day. There is a lot less
pain, stiffness and risk. The recovery is much faster, which can mean a quicker return to sports, work and everyday activities.”
Taking care of patients with a painful condition and watching them dramatically improve is Dr. Rajan’s primary goal. “To be able to fix a
debilitating condition that has been causing severe pain or functional loss is the best part of my job,” he says.
