Whether treating a weekend warrior or a professional athlete, board-certified orthopedic surgeon Dr. Louis Rizio strives to restore all patients
to an active, pain-free lifestyle through the use of state-of-the-art surgical and biologic treatments. Fellowship trained in sports medicine, he spe-
cializes in sports injuries of the upper and lower extremity, cartilage repair and reconstructive procedures of the knee and shoulder.
Dr. Rizio and his staff ensure patients of all ages feel welcome and comfortable. His personal approach to care involves listening to patients’
concerns and formulating a plan to heal their injuries with the least invasive methods possible and with minimal impact on their lives. “Having
patients tell me they achieved their athletic goals after recovering from an injury is extremely rewarding,” he says.
Offering treatments such as anatomic ACL reconstruction, arthroscopic shoulder reconstruction, Tommy John surgery and cartilage regen-
eration, Dr. Rizio remains on the cutting edge of sports medicine through ongoing research and education. He is a clinical assistant professor of
orthopedics at NYU–Hospital for Joint Diseases and has a special interest in cartilage regeneration utilizing adult stem cells. A former physician
for the Miami Dolphins and Florida Marlins, he is now affiliated with several college and high school teams.
