MICHAEL J. STRAKER, MD, FACOG
At Bestcare OB/GYN, Dr. Michael Straker believes in a personalized and sensitive approach to women’s health, a philosophy that is always
desired but not always achieved in every practice. In addition to delivering babies, he uses minimally invasive gynecological techniques, includ-
ing robotic surgery, to perform hysterectomies and fibroid removal, endometrial ablation for heavy menstrual bleeding and Essure® hystero-
scopic tubal occlusion for permanent sterilization. “These types of procedures decrease complication rates and surgical bleeding,” he says.
“They also allow for faster recovery so patients can resume normal activities sooner.”
Treating patients from adolescence through postmenopause, Dr. Straker is supported by an enthusiastic and experienced staff in his state-of-
the-art office. He has been using electronic medical records for scheduling, charting and patient communication since opening his practice in
Dr. Straker is director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and serves as co-chair of the Robotic Surgery Steering Committee
at Clara Maass Medical Center. He is also a clinical assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the New York Institute of Technology
College of Osteopathic Medicine. He takes pride in his community involvement, is an active member of his church and sits on the board of
directors of the Neighborhood Health Services Corporation in Plainfield.
