Dr. Robert Alter is co-chief of urologic oncology at the John Theurer Cancer
Center at Hackensack University Medical Center. “We have access to novel therapies that may not be available at other facilities,” he says. “We also have a depth of
expertise that is unmatched in the area.” The center, among the US News & World
Report’s Top 50 Best Hospitals for cancer, is the largest of its kind in New Jersey
and offers state-of-the-art clinical trials.
Board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology, Dr. Alter
specializes in prostate, kidney, bladder, testes, and head/neck cancers. A graduate of Chicago Medical School, he completed a residency at St. Luke’s–Roosevelt
Hospital Center, New York City, and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at NYU
Medical Center. “I try to approach patients in a compassionate, honest and caring
way and provide them with individualized care,” he says.

A board certified ophthalmologist with more than 25 years of experience,
Dr. Richard C. Angrist specializes in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive sur-
gery, eyelid and tear duct disorders, cosmetic surgery and eyelid tumors/cancers.
Selected the last six years by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. as one of the top doctors
in the New York metropolitan area, he has offices in Somerset, Point Pleasant and
Dr. Angrist completed his residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in
Manhattan, plus a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at the University of Wisconsin.
He is a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery, a fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a fellow of
