Dr. James Wong and Dr. Mona Karim lead a radiation oncology practice that merges innovative technology with a welcoming and
compassionate environment. Dr. Wong, who has chaired the Department of Radiation Oncology at Morristown Medical Center since 1997, is
a pioneer and world leader in state-of-the-art cancer protocols. A co-developer of image-guided radiation therapy, he is also a proponent of
real-time treatment planning (RTP) that uses a GPS-like mechanism to track tumor position. RTP enables a radiation beam configuration to
be dynamically changed during treatment to minimize damage to normal tissue. “No other hospital in the tristate region can do this,”
says Dr. Wong, who is also the director of Morristown Medical’s Leonard B. Kahn Head and Neck Cancer Institute.
Dr. Karim, who is vice chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Morristown Medical Center, specializes in breast,
gastrointestinal, thoracic and pediatric cases.
Working with Dr. Yana Goldberg and Dr. Todd Carpenter, Drs. Wong and Karim are very proud that their group consistently receives
some of the highest Press Ganey scores in the nation, which rank patient experience and quality of care. “You can’t find another radiation
practice in New Jersey with our distinctive level of technology and our high level of patient satisfaction as well,” says Dr. Karim.
