Offering both compassionate care and decades
of experience in all aspects of pediatric and adult
neurosurgery, including minimally invasive procedures, Dr. Arno Fried heads a family-centered
practice with three pediatric neurosurgeons and
one spine surgeon.
The group sees a high volume of conditions of
a special nature, such as epilepsy, craniofacial disorders, spina bifida, hydrocephalus and spasticity.
Dr. Fried has held many leadership positions
at major New Jersey hospitals, including chairman of both neurosurgery and the Neuroscience
Institute at Hackensack University Medical
Center. His neuroscience program there was
ranked among US News & World Report’s Top
50 hospital programs for the past several years,
and his pediatric neuroscience program was
ranked as high as 25th in the country. Dr. Fried
is also chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Saint
Barnabas Medical Center and chief of neurosur-
gery at both Jersey City Medical Center and Saint
Peter’s University Hospital.
The favorite part of his job? Interacting with
children and seeing them get better. “On a daily
basis, to save children’s lives, from either traumas
or brain tumors, or to cure them of the epileptic
seizures they may be having every single day, is
incredibly rewarding,” he says.
